There is no need to pay for anti virus software. When you signed up for the paid version, you should have noticed, but did not apparently that you were also committing to auto renewal---a common scam with many companies.

Avast and others offer a free edition which works just fine for most people. As to getting a refund, good luck on that. By the way Avast will continue to automatically bill you each year unless you cancel with them and/or change your charge card account.

Don't rely on Avast actually cancelling but the best bet to stop them is to change your card so they have nothing valid to charge to. I am assuming you used a charge card and not a debit card as that would have been really dangerous to use.

When you initially signed up with Avast you agreed to automatic payments until you cancelled. Your mistake was two-fold: agreeing to auto payments and not checking your Paypal account. Avast and other offer a free edition of their software which works well and really, there is no reason to pay for anti virus software for most people, especially if you supplement it with free programs like Malwarebytes, Blur, UBlock Origin, etc.

Avast Software - Another B OGUS omputer service!

I have all avast products. atlast check, more than 14,000 trojans/viruses. no support, just more time spent listening to their ***!! All they do is take up your valuable time and try to sell you more products. I am out and am trying to get some of my money back. If you know how to deal with avast technicians please share on a help site. Hopeffully some one that knows what they are doing will help expose this company. Does any knowledge-able person help expose this scamming company. Every time I contact their technicians it turns into an all day session, with them in control of my computer.

Avast Software - Stole money and hacked my account

This place got into my account, and hacked 3 of my debit cards 3 different times, until we found out it was tracked down to them. They got into my account again and stole money they were not authorized to get. I have turned this information in also to the proper authorities. Even when you cancel a month before renewel, and have an email from them saying it was successful, they do it anyway. Last year when they hacked my account they did the same thing and I canceled, loosing my money then.Now they simply steal it and try fighting back. I have the proof and changed my account numbers again.

I used the 1 month free VPN SecureLine on my Mac, and was satisfied, so I purchased for a year's subscription. In Avast's website FAQ's it says that up to 5 devices can be used on that same activation. However, my iphone will not recognize the subscription. So I emailed customer service to ask what was up, and the initial immediate response was an automated "we cannot find your subscription". I replied within minutes with the itunes purchase receipt and order number. Their next response was 20 hours later, " the secureline vpn only works on your mac and cannot be used on your phone." I have responded with a the screenshots of their own website description of the product that I have purchased, asking for clarification.

First of all, Avast has a free edition which works well and nowadays you do not need to buy anti virus software as many companies offer it. They all, however like to sell you on an "upgrade" of their product and most will scam you by enrolling you in "automatic renewal"----at the going rate, which increases each year, as does everything.

Usually, they will email you in advance and advise you of the auto renewal to take place and at what cost to you, giving you a chance to cancel.

In your case, make sure you tell your bank this is a fraudulent charge and you will need a new credit card number, etc. because Avast will try to charge that account again.

Avast Software - Sucks no customer service. Thinking of changing security service

Can only speak with the Philippines, usually not a problem. They wanted to take over my computer to change my CC number on the account. They were rude, really rude, one man telling me that "Ma'am, you just need to relax and listen very, very carefully to me." Really?? No way to reach a real person in the US and called 3 times to 2 different numbers. Seriously considering changing security service. What is wrong with having customer service in the US? avast does reply and will cancel the subscription which you can do (and should have done yourself) real easily.

As they use a FiFo system, creating multiple tickets will put you back to the bottom of the stack each time you create a new one about the same subject, making you have to wait longer.

Only one to blame for not having a reaction (yet) is yourself.

There is no "cleaning" tool that does anything you can't do already yourself.

They only make some things easier/faster, but that is all.
