Revent events dealing with the company after buying Driver installer

After being a customer for many years, Avast recently has noticeably been sending more intrusive sales attempts claiming one thing or another about your computer needing for example, drivers updated. Well, I just lost a laptop on a recent trip and bought a new laptop to replace it with Windows 11 installed.

As I am setting the computer up with all my music, Karaoke software, Avast software, Acronis to back it up, and everything was running great. Up pops this scan from Avast saying 18 drivers needed updating and they were offering a 2 month trial on their software. SO I decide to give it a try. Download, setup and then a 10 hour scan to fix the drivers followed.

After the driver updating software stop running. I tried to play some music. NO Sound! Windows tell me I have no sound devices attached anywhere in my laptop.

After being on the phone for an hour or two with Avast C/S to NO AVAIL, here is the letter I sent to their Remove Me from your Automatic Renewal (cause baby, I'm out of here), Site.

"You people are always trying to sell me this or that. I ordered your Driver updater 2 days ago and upon downloading, installing it and letting it scan my computer for about 10 hours, I went back to my laptop to find the program had disconnected every sound device on my machine. I called your C/S, talk to man in the Philippine Islands, who fumbled around for about an hour, supposedly resetting the drivers your software had displaced, only to find the sound still would not work. Then he had the audacity to tell me that the problem was not in the drivers so I would have to buy a service contract if Avast was going to even attempt to fix the mess your software made on my laptop.

. He assured me someone up the ladder in your support dept. would be in touch with me by EMAIL and gave me a support # 2022****. Needless to say, I've heard nothing and do not expect to hear anything from such a broken system as the C/S you have in place.

SO here's the deal, after many years of using and advising many friends and customers of mine to use Avast, when this years subscription is up, I'll be leaving you to find another antiviral software company. So please remove my automatic renewal from all my subscribed items and I'm on my way!!!"

Not used Avast for several years - just before Xmas Email 'Thank you for renewing', I assumed it was a family present until credit card statement arrived today - showing a deduction of £54.99. I intend to report this to Trading Standards & ask my bank for a charge back as it seems an impossible rigmarole to try to speak to anyone on Avast. As an 85 year old OAP I really can't afford this and feel cheated. I will also try shaming them on Facebook

The company once was the best antivirus software I ever used and their c/s was the best. No more! C/S has moved offshore and their constant bombardment with fake scans and trying to sell add-ons is over the top. They have lost me as a customer!

Too many charges I want to cancel

Ive been charged multiple times inside of one month. When trying to cancel my account it took upwards into 4 hours. Poor dialect issues with the Philippine operators. I was put on hold for an entire hour, No one was able to do anything, when transferred to billing there was no resolve. Eventually I was able to resolve the issue by falsifying my reasons for calling and pushed 1 on the prompt as a first time caller. Going forward from there, I was able to come to some resolve. US issues should be dealt with US personnel.

Resolved: For 3 years they have reactivated my account and billed me for their annual service which I never use. The computer that had the Avast protection hasn't been used in oer 3 years.

Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. I contacted them directly and the same scene unfolded just as it has the last three years.

The cust service rep tried to talk me into keeping the software they charged me for without my consent.

Then they start bartering offering the software at a discounted rate. After 1 hour and insisting on a full refund, cancellation of auto pay, and all subscriptions the rep reluctantly did it.

I was once again charged by Avast for annual coverage of their protection service which I do not use and haven't for three years. Each time I'm billed I file a complaint with PayPal and with Avast.

It's a major ordeal and each year I'm assured by Avast it won't happen again. Well, I was just billed again and PayPal denied my claim saying I didn't cancel autopay until after I was billed. I'm so pissed off that I'm considering legal action against Avast. It cannot be within the law to charge people for services they don't use or want and they know this.
As for PayPal they can suck it, too.

Worthless. I cannot be the only person Avast is doing this to.
Any insight or help your can give me is greatly appreciated.

So, PayPal is telling me I need proof from last year that Avast reimbursed me and the autopay was cancelled, for the second time. Here's the thing, I probably don't have that info but will check my bank.

I did ask them if they thought it strange that Avast says my autopay was set up in November of 22. Yet, they charged me the renewal in October the day after I logged onto the old laptop, cancelled pop-up boxes, closed all their stuff out, then was hit with the renewal fee the next day. Coincidence? I think not.

I also sent an email to Avast customer service yesterday and haven't heard back from them. Shocker.

I finally reached someone at Avast. They once again refunded my money for the erroneous purchase, cancelled the autopay with PayPal, and deactivated my subscription.

I then removed the software from my computer. I still don't think this is going to resolve it but I'll see next year around this time.

Your request. As I indicated, there was a problem with installation, but the problem was overcome with the help of Total AV, so I requested a refund well within the alloted time, but did not receive

Not yet having received a subcription refund after cancellation within the alloted time, I'd be grateful if this could be provided. I can't give you a good or bad assessment as there is too little to go on; but that you are still in business means to me that you should be ok, and it was only the urgency of the situation that made me go to Total AV, and I still look forward to receiving this refund.
